COVID-19 POLICY

UPDATED: Dec 30, 2022

Social visits have resumed at Heritage House.  All visitors are allowed to visit if they meet the visitation requirements.

Visitor Guidelines

Visitors who are otherwise able to visit (fully vaccinated, negative rapid test) are now permitted to participate in indoor gatherings, events and activities.

An exception to the vaccination requirement is made for visitors providing essential needs, although vaccination requirements may still apply to volunteers and other professionals through the Residential Care COVID-19 Vaccination Status Information and Preventative Measures - Sep 12, 2022 order, even if providing an essential visit.

Proof of vaccination

  • All visitors will need to show proof that they are fully vaccinated with two doses of COVID-19 vaccine (excluding children under the age of 12 or those with any medical exemption and/or compassionate visits related to end of life).

Screening

  • Visitors will be screened for signs and symptoms of illness prior to every visit.  Visitors with signs or symptoms of illness, as well as those in self-isolation or quarantine in accordance with public health directives, are not permitted to visit.

Rapid antigen testing

  • Visitors are not required to undergo rapid antigen testing.

Masks

  • All visitors are required to wear a medical mask in hallways and common areas.

  • Masks are not required when visitors are visiting residents in their private suites.

Hand hygiene

  • Visitors and residents are expected to clean hands before and after visiting, practice hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette - i.e. cough or sneeze into elbows, sleeves and dispose used tissues properly.

Single designated visits

  • Any resident at Heritage House can identify a single designated visitor who may continue to visit the resident at times when visitation is restricted.  Single designated visitors are permitted to visit during an active COVID-19 outbreak, under guidance and direction from the local medical health officer.
